Palletforce Joins Record-Breaking James Bond Star

Palletforce has partnered with James Bond stunt driver and the fastest Manx man on four wheels in an express delivery of a different type. The company is backing Mark Higgins, a triple British Rally Champion, as he bids for victory on Rally Isle of Man next weekend with the DMACK rally team.

In June this year, Mark stamped his authority as the fastest driver on the island after smashing his own TT lap record for a car, setting an awesome average speed of 128.7mph around the world-famous course.

When he’s not racing, Mark is the regular stunt-driving double for Daniel Craig in a number of James Bond movies – including the quarry chase in Quantum of Solace and racing through the Vatican at over 100mph during the filming of Spectre.

However, next week he will be firmly strapped into the Palletforce-backed Ford Fiesta R5 rally car to tackle the Tarmac roads across the Isle of Man. It’s the final round of the British championship and Mark has won his home event five times before.

But he will be driving the car for the first time on Tarmac when the event kicks off from Douglas on Thursday evening, and he completed a systems check and seat-fitting at M-Sport on Thursday in preparation. Higgins acknowledges it will take a few stages to reach the pace of the championship regulars but hopes his experience of the Manx roads will help bridge the gap.

Rally Isle of Man is based at the TT Grandstand in Douglas and gets into gear at 7pm on Thursday evening with a mile-long blast along the sea front promenade before crews tackle two evening stages. Friday offers six timed tests stretching the length of the island including famous runs through Druidale and Round Table – often made difficult by fog and mist blown in from the Irish Sea.

The rally draws to a close on Saturday with another six stages, culminating with the 13.15-mile Classic test which finishes in front of the TT Grandstand.

Mark Higgins said: “I’m really looking forward to the event and it’s great to see it return to a classic three-day format. It will be a challenge and will take me a while to settle in to driving the car on Tarmac for the first time, but it’s exciting to be competing against so much competition. There are six guys who could win the rally and I’m hoping to be one of them by the end of the weekend.”

Palletforce sales and marketing director Dave Holland added: “Palletforce is all about safely delivering the goods in an express manner and Mark is certainly someone who has the experience of doing just that. His CV makes for exciting reading and we’re hoping he can deliver a quality performance next week in the rally.”
