Palletforce Driver Secures One-Two Manx Rally Victory

Palletforce-backed rally driver Mark Higgins helped the DMACK British Rally Team score a super one-two victory on Rally Isle of Man – the final round of the MSA British Rally Championship.

The triple British Rally Champion, and James Bond stunt-driving ace, was locked in a weekend-long battle with team-mate Elfyn Evans. Spilt by the smallest of margins, just 0.1 seconds going into the final loop of stages, Evans powered to a 5.9 second victory.

After clinching the championship title on the previous event, Evans and co-driver Craig Parry rounded off a super season with their fifth victory from seven rallies. But it was a stunning result for Higgins and Darren Garrod in their Palletforce-liveried Ford Fiesta R5 after a nail-biting, three-day battle. Both crews took stage wins on 16 of the event’s 20 special stages.

The result was more than enough to ensure the DMACK team lifted the BRC Teams Championship trophy.

Rally Isle of Man is one of the toughest Tarmac challenges in the series and runs on the flat-out Manx roads and lanes across the Island.

Competing on his home rally and with unrivalled experience of the stages, five-time rally winner and triple BRC champion Higgins was on a mission. Despite it being his Tarmac debut in the Fiesta, he and Garrod went on a charge and snapped up the lead after Evans had drive-shaft problems.

His stunning Palletforce-livery was a favourite among Manx rally fans as Higgins’ drive was the highlight of the event.

Mark Higgins said: “It was a great event and I was really pleased to see that I could be back on a rally-winning pace after such a long lay-off and on my first time with the Fiesta R5 on Tarmac. It was a fantastic result for DMACK and I want to thank them and Palletforce for giving me the opportunity. Racing in dry conditions for three days here is a real pleasure and it was great that we could be part of the battle for the win.”
