Continuing to further strengthen its member network, Palletforce has bolstered its presence in the Midlands by adding the sixth business to its member network this year.

Northampton-based Route 1 Express Couriers will cover NN postcodes, providing additional capacity for continued growth and reinforcing Palletforce’s commitment to deliver the highest levels of customer service across the network.

Route 1 was founded 35 years ago as a direct mail provider but has since expanded into a multi-division group specialising in logistics, fulfilment services and recruitment. The decision to select Palletforce when joining a palletised freight network for the first time was based on service excellence and the growth opportunities available.

Lee Haines, Route 1 Express Group Commercial Director, said: “Joining a leading express freight network is the last piece of the jigsaw in our long-term plan to become a one-stop shop.

“Since our move to the pallet sector we’ve been looking for a network that will help to realise our ambitions, and Palletforce was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of dynamism, professionalism, and dedication to customer service.”

Route 1, which also has a site in Widnes, has a 30-strong staff but remains a family-run business. Lee’s wife Jade is Finance Director and his father Richard, who started the company, is Group Managing Director. Lee’s sisters Lois and Abbie work in accounts and payroll, brother-in-law Nick manages the fulfilment division while sister-in-law Dana heads up the same-day and pallet network operations.

“We’re very close-knit as a family, but very ambitious as a company – and we see our partnership with Palletforce as central to our future growth,” Richard said.

David Breeze, Palletforce’s Network Development Director, said: “Route 1 Express Couriers is a very ambitious and forward-thinking company who will be a superb addition to the network in the busy central England area.

“Although they are new to the pallet sector, they have taken to it exceptionally well. I have no doubt they will play a major part in our mission to operate the strongest possible member-focused network, and to ensure all our members’ customers, across every UK postcode, receive the highest levels of service.”
