Palletforce employees have hit an extraordinary £10,000 milestone in fundraising efforts for a charity which makes wishes for children living with life threatening illnesses come true.

Staff at Palletforce’s Burton upon Trent SuperHub have held a series of events over the last few years in aid of the When You Wish Upon A Star charity, clocking up over £10,000 in donations.

Hub operations director Jo Duncan, who has been organising the fundraising, said: “It is an incredible achievement, especially when so many people are finding it difficult financially.

“We couldn’t have done this without the support of every single person at this site – it has been amazing, and I can’t thank people enough.”

Jo has undertaken four mammoth bike rides covering 460 miles as part of the fundraising drive.

When You Wish Upon A Star is based in Nottingham but makes dreams come true for ill children across the country. Since forming in 1990 they have granted wishes for more than 18,000 children and their families.

Events held by Palletforce staff include a Christmas raffle – raising more than £3,000 – Christmas jumper days, a Halloween-themed fundraiser, cake sales and Bake Offs, dress-down Fridays and a tuck shop and a Palletforce football team also donates its excess subscription money to the cause.

Jo added: “We all get stressed about day-to-day work and what is going on in our lives, but it is nothing to what these families are going through. I’m extremely pleased we have been able to help them, give them a bit of joy and play a part in creating some amazing memories for them.

“I’m lucky enough to have met some of the children who have been granted a wish by When You Wish Upon A Star and it really is very humbling. They are very happy and so pleased to be granted their wish – for some it is as simple as a trip to the pictures. I am delighted that Palletforce has been able to make many more wishes come true.”

Palletforce is committed to playing a large role in the communities in which it operates and supports all staff efforts to help local organisations and charities.
