Focusing on service, quality and strengthening its member-centric network, Palletforce is adding another leading UK haulage operator to its expanding express pallet distribution network.

Chiltern Transport will cover LU postcodes around Luton, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard, further strengthening the network’s expertise in the Home Counties and using its unrivalled experience to enhance customer service in the area.

Founded in 1989 by Keith Croker – who remains the majority shareholder – the company started as a freight forwarder but grew to begin operating its own fleet and warehouse in 2005, joining a pallet network for the first time in 2012.

As well as palletised freight distribution, Chiltern Transport specialises in road haulage, forwarding, warehousing and chilled and frozen transport from its sites in Leighton Buzzard and Pitstone.

Operations director Iain Hamilton said: “In order to grow our business further and secure the best service levels for our customers, we were looking for a progressive network with a first-class membership and proven track record of investment and service, and Palletforce was the obvious choice.

“The fact we are able to concentrate solely on one postcode area, as opposed to three previously, is also a major factor, as it means we can work with greater efficiency and sustainability going forward.”

David Breeze, Palletforce’s network development director, said: “Our commitment to service and delivery performance has once again attracted the very best in the business to our network.

“Chiltern Transport’s record of service and operational excellence speaks for itself, and we are delighted to have them on board to cover this busy area of the country. By tightening the area, we expect to realise sustainability benefits associated with reduced delivery miles.

“As volumes continue to grow, Chiltern Transport will help enhance our domestic service even further, providing sector-leading coverage and creating additional capacity for stable network growth.”
