Transvenlo, a Netherlands-based member of the Palletforce network, is to open a new depot to cope with expansion and promote growth across Europe.

The hub, which is due to open in February, will be situated next to its existing depot in Venlo, near Rotterdam, and increase the company’s existing operation in the Benelux regions.

“Transvenlo is a key asset in northern Europe…and their expansion can only benefit the network as a whole.”

Post-Brexit, the development also strengthens Palletforce’s ongoing strategy to target Europe as a major area for business expansion through the Allnet partnership.

Palletforce CEO Michael Conroy said: “The referendum last year has resulted in a lot of economic uncertainty, but we have always been confident in the strength of our relationships with our European partners.

“Transvenlo is a key asset in northern Europe, and a highly respected Palletforce member in their own right, and their expansion can only benefit the network as a whole.”

Founded in 1979, Transvenlo joined Palletforce in August 2013 and has since increased its volumes to the UK by over 65 per cent. Its five cross-dock terminals currently handle thousands of pallet shipments to and from all European countries on a daily basis.

Commercial director Dmitri de Swart said: “Despite the uncertainties of the Brexit vote we are confident of our strong position as Palletforce’s only member in the Benelux regions.

“We intend to maintain our growth in the UK and Ireland, and to achieve this goal we felt it necessary to make a major investment in our new depot. It represents a major step forward for Transvenlo, and we are looking forward to even more success in 2017.”
