One of the country’s oldest family-run transport companies, with nearly 120 years of history and prestigious service, has added pallet network operations to its growing logistics portfolio and chosen Palletforce as the best network to help deliver its growth and quality aspirations.

Wreford’s Transport, a much-respected operator based in Northampton, will cover selected NN postcodes and further strengthen Palletforce’s unrivalled presence and service in the busy East Midlands area, providing customers with the trusted option of overnight palletised distribution to every corner of the country.

It’s the first time Wreford’s has joined a palletised freight network, and the decision to choose Palletforce was ultimately based on recommendations from fellow Transport Association members.

Wreford’s Transport General Manager Gareth Shortt said: “Our customers have been asking about the possibility of flexible and dependable, next day delivery – and when Palletforce approached us with the opportunity of servicing our home postcodes it was a no-brainer.

“We did our research, though, and the feedback from Palletforce members who are part of the Transport Association was overwhelmingly positive. It’s a network which has invested heavily in technology and operational excellence, and the quality of its membership is second to none.

“Our business will benefit hugely, and we’re looking forward to playing our part in maintaining Palletforce’s reputation as the UK’s leading express distribution network.”

Wreford’s current fleet of over 80 vehicles, which operate from three warehouse sites, is a far cry from the liveried horse and carts first used when the company was founded in 1904.
Former managing director Michael Wreford became chairman in 1980, and now runs the business with his sons Mark, Andy and Rob, specialising in smart logistics, haulage and warehouse distribution.

Palletforce Network Development Director David Breeze said: “Companies like Wreford’s are the backbone of the transport industry in the UK and are built on a family ethos of service, quality and customer care – just like Palletforce.

“We are delighted to welcome a business with such a rich and successful history to our network. Palletforce prides itself on maintaining the strongest possible member-focused network, and as well as being an invaluable addition to our operations in East Midlands, Gareth and the team will ensure all our customers, across every UK postcode, will continue to receive the highest levels of service.”
